> Common Carriers & Contract Carriers

Common and contract carriers of fuel perform a simple function that is no different than their wholesale operation (described in the petroleum marketers section) with the exception that they are hauling fuel on behalf of another company that they, as the common carrier, do not own. The common and contract carrier has only taken possession of the fuel for delivery to the customer of the company for whom they are hauling. In exchange for this function, the common carrier will receive a freight rate payment. Today there is not a large disparity in the functioning of a common and contract carrier.

Ineligible Exposures:
The intent is to include those transportation companies that carry Petroleum Products, Propane and Home Heating Fuel only.
